Enjoying my first October in a long time
But still can't stay away completely!
This year is my first year in 8 that I have not worked at The Nightmare on 13th haunted house. Its a bitter sweet experience for sure. I have had some of the best times in my life while working at N.O.T. I have made almost all of my greatest friends there OR met most of my greatest friends because I worked there. It has been a very big part of my life. (and I admit I did work two Saturdays helping in the ticket booth this year) We also got to walk through a few weeks ago as customers. It was a totally different and enjoyable experience not having seen the behind the scenes stuff before hand and not having all the actors break character to say Hi!
The saddest part of the whole change for me is missing my friends. It's a big realization that I'm a grown up. I'm now a mom. I don't get to stay out playing drinking games and reminiscing every Saturday night anymore. That's the bitter. The hardest part is missing Whitney. My relationship with her is one of my favorite things I have gained out of my years at N.O.T. She IS the haunted house to me. It felt foreign and strange to be there without her. Life is about change but sometimes those changes are hard to swallow.
I MISS YOU WHIT!
Now the sweet.
Its also been a really awesome experience having my favorite month free to enjoy. October usually zooms by for me. This year I will actually get to attend a Halloween party, before 2 am! And I have gotten to watch the season change and gotten to enjoy cozying up to fall. I'd be missing some major milestones with Max as well if I were at the haunted house. He is talking more and more. He's trying to sit up more and he thinks his hands are the COOLEST! And I'll get to dress him up and get some pictures of him with all his cousins in their costumes and enjoy family times. He is going to have his first over night visit with Grandma and Grandpa while we go to a party on Friday... EEK! Thats more of a mommy milestone than a Max milestone. We'll see how I do! I'll post some pics on Saturday of Max and his cousins in their costumes and all of our Halloween adventures.
